Huxley is the new revolutionary K-beauty brand that awakened many on the actual possibilities of harvesting oil and moisture out of desert plants for usage in skincare. Cactuses are the only dominant plants that can get enough water and nutrients in the harsh, dry conditions of the dessert to survive and thrive- so how do... Continue Reading →
The Mizon Snail Repair Intensive Ampoule has a transparent, watery consistency that absorbed quickly into the skin, leaving my skin moist, smooth and refreshed. Since it is free of parabens and fragrances, it felt extremely comfortable on the skin and left a non-sticky finish. I usually apply ampoules in this sequence at night – wash, tone, ampoule, essence/serum, moisturiser, spot treatment. 2-3 drops usually does the work, and it is a good base to work on before slathering on the moisturiser.
Benton Snail Bee High Content Essence improves skin barrier protection and deliver vital nutrients to keep the skin hydrated, smooth and soft. Coming in a fuss-free 60ml pump bottle, I am using the newly formulated Gen 2 essence with the ingredients including Snail Secretion Filtrate, Bee Venom, Benton also added in aloe leaf juice and hollyhock roots which further provide hydration, locking in moisture to keep skin young and radiant. The Bee venom also tricks the skin into thinking it got “stung” and induces an extra surge of collagen production.
The COSRX Low pH Good Morning Gel Cleanser is a mildly acidic gel cleanser at ph5, which claims to gently deep cleanse the skin to remove excess sebum and dead skin cells while maintaining skin pH balance. It contains Betaine Salicylate, a natural BHA exfoliator that unclogs pores, tea tree oil that controls oil, reduces acne, blemishes and improves complexion, as well as citric acid (AHA) for anti-aging benefits. This cleanser seems to be big on plant-based extracts, containing essences from lotus leaf, evening primrose and Japanese cedar leaf, which aids to naturally purify, hydrate, and brighten skin all at once.
I have always loved Kiehl’s for its natural formulations and the Kiehl’s Calendula Toner was one I always turn to whenever my skin kicks up its tantrums. Formulated with calendula petals, burdock root and allantoin -which are all traditional medicinal herbs commonly used in old skin remedies- the toner soothes and reduce skin inflammation while it hydrates and balances the skin pH. Best of all, it is formulated without alcohol, which makes it suitable not only for normal to oil-skin types, but also sensitive skin.
Review of Kose Clear Turn White Vitamin C Mask. you can use it two ways. If you wish for a relaxing spa experience, heat it up slightly in a warm water bath for 5-10 minutes before usage. Else, you could go the usual way and chill in the refrigerator to help refine pores while the mask sets. After washing your face, prep with toner and smooth the sheet mask out evenly to fit your face. There are eye pads included so you could mask the skin around your pretty peepers as well. It was recommended to use the mask consecutively for a couple of weeks to see an obvious change.
Klairs Supple Preparation Facial Toner is suitable for normal, oily, combination and sensitive skin types, and contains hyaluronic acid, Phyto-oligo and wheat amino-acids to hydrate and restore skin pH balance. I would only recommend this if you have dry or normal skin types, or if you are tiding over for autumn and winter. If you have dehydrated or a combination sensitive skin type prone to acne and prefers a more watery, refreshing feel for toners, there are many better options out there.
At the start, it was a pleasure to use due to the refreshing citrusy scent! Also, I love how smooth and matt it leaves my skin. However, there was not much pore tightening effects to be seen even after a few weeks, and the oil control effect might not be sufficient for oily skin types.
My skin is usually dehydrated and hence pretty dull. However, it immediately looks brighter and clearer once fully absorbed! I also like how the innis free green tea serum only leaves a slight sticky finish on my skin, and the hydration seems to be working on a deep level as my T-zone was much less oily, and yet cheeks less dry.
