[Review] Manyo Factory Galac Niacin 2.0 Essence

Whitening products are dime a dozen but I usually put off using them as the chemical skin whiteners can strip skin to lose moisture excessively if your skin is not in a balanced state. Decided to give Manyo Factory Galac Niacin 2.0 Essence a try since it contains galactomyces ferment filtrate, which is a nutrient dense yeast and a by-product from fermenting sake. This is similar to Pitera in high end products such as SK II Facial Treatment Essence, containing rich amounts of vitamins, minerals and amino acids touted to have extraordinary anti-oxidant effects, as well as brightening and healing effects.  Alongside is the addition of niacinamide, a popular treatment for minimizing pores by regulating sebum and minimizing redness and wrinkles.

Manyo Factory Galac Niacin 2.0 Essence is an upgrade from its first version, and contains a whopping 93.69% Galactomyces concentration, which basically translates into twice more whitening compound than the first version, to inhibit melanin production. It works together with glutathione, another antioxidant that bind for quicker absorption and work hand in hand to brighten skin and lighten dark spots. Key ingredients as below:

Galactomyces Ferment Filtrate(93.69%), Niacinamide(4%), Panthenol, Sodium Hyaluronate, 1,2-Hexanediol, Butylene Glycol, Hamamelis Virginiana (Witch Hazel) Water, Ethylhexylglycerin, Chrysanthemum Indicum Flower Extract, Algin, Glutathione, Pentylene Glycol, Water

How to Use

Apply 4-5 drops on an entire face daily morning and evening, after cleansing and toning. Massage gently until fully absorbed.

Verdict

Manyo Factory Galac Niacin 2.0 Essence comes in a glass bottle complete with built-in dropper, and the liquid look and texture is exactly similar to water droplets. The essence is easily absorbed without any sticky after feel and sits well under a moisturizer. I applied this dutifully for 2 weeks and it considerably brightened up my complexion! While the size of my pores did not change drastically, I could feel my skin texture getting more refined and softer to touch.

On its own, the essence gives a good initial hydration boost, but effects are not long-lasting so you should always pair this up with a moisturizer. Sadly, after a month of usage, my skin started acting up again and I noticed little bumps surfacing on my cheeks and well as dry patches on my skin. I have then switched to using this on a cycle of 7 days on and off instead of a daily routine. Happy to say the usual effects are back! I am guessing my current moisturizer is not rich enough and hence the outbreak, but you should be fine with a good one!  My complexion is 1-2 tones lighter since then and will recommend this to anyone looking for a low maintenance whitening routine.
