If you do not yet already know, MIZON is one of the first few Korean skincare brands who got snail-based skincare products famous in the K-beauty market. I am enamoured with their entire Snail Repair Series, especially the top selling “Mizon All-in-one- Snail Repair Cream”, which is the ultimate life saver in winter. Fast tracking into summer, I wanted to try out a product which can bear the heat, something lighter and refreshing, and hence decided to get the “Mizon Snail Repair Intensive Ampoule”.
The Mizon Snail Repair Intensive Ampoule consists of a potent dosage of 80% snail secretion extract, Barberry root extract, and E.G.F, a skin peptide protein that speeds up skin regeneration and slows down the formation of wrinkles and acne scarring by improving skin resilience to environmental damage. It also contains hyaluronic acid, cocoa tree extract, cornus fruit and pomegranate extract to soothe sensitive skin while it moisturizes. On the average, the ingredients in this ampoule ranks well below safety factor 3 in COSDNA, which makes it suitable for even sensitive skin.
The Mizon Snail Repair Intensive Ampoule has a transparent, watery consistency that absorbed quickly into the skin, leaving my skin moist, smooth and refreshed. Since it is free of parabens and fragrances, it felt extremely comfortable on the skin and left a non-sticky finish. I usually apply ampoules in this sequence at night – wash, tone, ampoule, essence/serum, moisturiser, spot treatment. 2-3 drops usually does the work, and it is a good base to work on before slathering on the moisturiser.
While this ampoule worked well in refining my skin texture, it does little in terms of improving the hydration levels in the deeper layers of my skin, as I get dry patches in the morning if I skip the moisturiser. It also did not reduce the acne outbreaks on my chin, nor repair acne scars fast enough for me, as compared to the Benton Snail Bee High Content Essence.
Overall, would I repurchase this product? No, since it does little to improve my skin hydration and resilience levels, which I believe should be the main function of using this ampoule.
