Minimizing pores and regulating an oily T-zone was always a predominant concern of mine since I have combination skin and stay in a tropic zone all year round. While clay masks is the recommended go-to solution, I always have a love-hate relationship with it since the bulk of them usually deep cleanse but leave my skin parched and dry afterwards. Hence, I am always on the lookout for clay masks that does both without stripping the skin of its moisture. And I am glad to say that after the first use of Fresh Umbrian Clay Purifying Mask, I have never looked back since!
The Fresh Umbrian Clay Mask claims to be a multi-functional treatment for normal to oily skin, which triples up as a daily cleanser, pimple buster and an instant purifying deep cleansing mask. It contains key ingredients like 100% pure umbrian clay to balance pH and clarify, while sandalwood oil, chamomile and lavender helps to tighten up pores and calm the skin. The mask comes in an adorable yet classy pictorial clay container, and with a spatula for easy scooping and hygiene purposes.
As a multi-functional treatment, the key difference to use as a mask is to apply to dry skin, while you apply it to damp skin for deep cleansing. For both cases, leave it on for at least 3-5minutes before rinsing. If you are using it as a pimple buster, leave it on longer for 5-8 minutes to give it sufficient time to suck out the excess sebum and dry up the pimple.
I have tried all three methods but best prefer to use it as a mask, simply because of how much better it feels! Remember to stir the mask slightly before scooping up for application, as the sandalwood oil and clay are slightly immiscible. It has an earthy scent with a slight whiff of lavender, which is pretty calming on the senses. I usually use at least 3 fingers length amount as clay masks often work best applied thick and heavy. You do not want to scrimp on deep cleansing, and especially so if you are hoping to decongest acne spots!
Immediately upon application, the masks leaves a cooling sensation and as it mattifies, you will feel a tingling, tightening effect as the mineral clay draws out excess sebum, dirt and impurities from deep within the pores. After washing off, the skin is left with a soft radiant glow, and pores are significantly minimized. If you have a pimple, you will also see that much of the redness has gone away. The best part is, it also leaves it soft and bouncy, signs that the skin is left sufficiently hydrated!
I came back to this product time and time again, as it leaves your skin refreshed and supple. Especially when I feel a pimple popping up, I apply it to instantly soothe the redness. It will not immediately eliminate your acne but still works great as a pre-treatment mask before extractions as the blackheads will be softened and exposed. Plus, the short 5 minutes of application time needed is a heaven-sent for lazy bums like me (I often use it as in the shower!) as you could follow up with your whitening or hydrating mask right after. Highly-recommended and a HG item for me.
